Social Media Engagement Rate Calculator
Calculate your engagement rate from likes, comments and followers or views.
What is the Engagement Rate Calculator?
Engagement rate turns raw interaction counts (likes, comments, shares) into a single percentage you can compare across posts, accounts or time periods — a post with 500 likes means very different things on an account with 2,000 followers versus 2 million.
The two standard formulas
By followers: (Likes + Comments + Shares) ÷ Followers × 100 — the most common version, useful for judging an account's overall audience engagement over time.
By reach/views: (Likes + Comments + Shares) ÷ Reach (or Views) × 100 — better for judging how well a single post performed among the people who actually saw it, since not every follower sees every post.
How to use it
- Choose whether you're calculating against your total follower count or a specific post's reach/view count.
- Enter likes, comments, and shares or saves (optional, but including them gives a fuller picture).
- Enter your follower count or reach/views for that post.
"Good" engagement rate varies hugely by platform, niche and account size (smaller accounts often see higher percentage engagement than large ones) — so this number is most useful compared against your own past posts, not as an absolute pass/fail score.
