Merch by Amazon Design Spec Checker
Check your design PNG against Amazon Merch's size, format and transparency rules.
What is the Merch by Amazon Design Spec Checker?
Before uploading a design to Merch on Demand, this tool checks your PNG file against Amazon's published design requirements — exact pixel dimensions per product type, PNG format, a transparent background, file size, and an implied resolution check — so a spec mismatch doesn't cost you an upload rejection or a blurry print.
The specs this checks
- Dimensions: 4500×5400px for standard tees, 4500×4050px for hoodies/sweatshirts — Amazon's published exact requirements.
- Format: PNG, which is required specifically because it supports transparency.
- Transparency: checked by sampling pixels for a non-opaque alpha channel — a fully opaque (non-transparent) file will print with an unwanted background box.
- File size: Amazon's published limit is 25MB.
- Resolution: Amazon recommends 150–300 DPI; since most PNGs don't reliably store a DPI value, this is calculated from your pixel dimensions against the known 15×18 inch printable area.
This tool checks the technical requirements only — it can't evaluate design quality, trademark issues, or Amazon's content policies, all of which are also grounds for rejection. Always keep your original high-resolution source file, since Amazon may request it during review.
