Social Media Character Counter
Check your post length against Instagram, X, LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest limits at once.
What is the Social Media Character Counter?
Instead of switching between separate counters for every platform, this tool checks one piece of text against Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest's description limits all at the same time — useful when you're repurposing the same caption across multiple platforms and need to know which ones it still fits.
The limits this checks
- Instagram caption: 2,200 characters, plus a separate count of hashtags (Instagram caps usable hashtags at 30).
- X (Twitter): 280 characters on a standard account. Any link is counted as exactly 23 characters no matter how long the real URL is (X wraps every link through its t.co shortener), and emoji count as 2 characters each — X Premium subscribers can post up to 25,000 characters instead.
- LinkedIn: 3,000 characters per post.
- TikTok: 2,200 characters per caption.
- Pinterest description: 500 characters.
How to use it
- Type or paste your caption into the box.
- Check the table — green means it fits that platform's limit, red means it's over.
- Trim your text until every platform you're posting to shows green.
The X character count here follows X's own documented counting rules closely, but isn't guaranteed to match X's own composer to the character in every edge case (certain rare Unicode combinations can count differently) — for anything right at the limit, do a final check in X's own post composer before publishing.

X (Twitter) count applies documented rules: any link counts as 23 characters regardless of its real length, and emoji count as 2 characters each — X Premium subscribers get up to 25,000 characters instead of 280.
