KDP Full Cover Wrap Size Calculator
Calculate the exact full-wrap cover dimensions for your paperback, including bleed and spine.
What is the Full Cover Wrap Size Calculator?
A KDP paperback cover is uploaded as a single wrap-around file — back cover, spine and front cover side by side, plus bleed — not three separate pieces. This tool calculates the exact overall dimensions that single file needs to be, from your trim size, page count and paper type.
The formula
Full cover width = (2 × trim width) + spine width + (2 × 0.125" bleed). Full cover height = trim height + (2 × 0.125" bleed). Spine width comes from your page count and paper type — white and premium color paper use ≈0.002252" per page, cream uses ≈0.0025" per page, and standard color uses ≈0.0032" per page, the same constants used in our Spine Width Calculator.
How to use it
- Enter your trim size and final page count.
- Select your interior paper type.
- Use the resulting full cover dimensions to set up your cover design canvas, with the spine positioned dead-center.
Unlike interior pages, KDP always requires bleed on a cover file — there's no bleed-free cover option — since the cover prints edge-to-edge with no white border. As with spine width, page count changes late in production (even by a few pages) shift these numbers, so always recalculate after your final proofread, and cross-check against Amazon's own official KDP Cover Calculator before submitting.
