Estimated KENP Royalty

The per-page rate is set by Amazon every month based on the total KDP Select Global Fund divided by all pages read that month — it is not a fixed number. Find this month's actual rate under "Understand your royalties in KDP Select" in your KDP Reports dashboard, and enter it above.

What is the KENP Royalty Calculator?

If your book is enrolled in KDP Select, you earn royalties from Kindle Unlimited and Kindle Owners' Lending Library not per-borrow, but per page read — measured in KENP (Kindle Edition Normalized Pages), a page count Amazon normalizes across different fonts, formatting and device sizes so it's fair regardless of how a specific book is typeset. This calculator turns your KENP-read total into an estimated dollar payout.

Why the rate isn't hardcoded

The KDP Select Global Fund is a fixed pool of money Amazon allocates each month; the per-page rate is calculated after the month ends, by dividing that month's fund by the total KENP read by all participating books. That means the rate genuinely changes every month and can't be reliably predicted in advance — historically it has moved within a few tenths of a cent, but there's no way to know this month's exact number without checking Amazon's own report. This tool asks for that rate directly rather than guessing, so the math is exactly right whatever the current rate happens to be.

How to use it

  1. Find your KENP read total for the period in your KDP Reports dashboard.
  2. Find the current per-page rate on the "Understand your royalties in KDP Select" page (Amazon typically publishes the previous month's rate a few weeks into the following month).
  3. Enter both to see your estimated royalty for that period.

This is an estimate for planning purposes — your actual KDP royalty statement is always the authoritative number.
