FBA vs FBM Cost Comparison
Compare per-unit profit between Fulfilled by Amazon and Fulfilled by Merchant.
What is the FBA vs FBM Cost Comparison?
This tool compares your real per-unit profit between selling Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA), where Amazon stores, picks, packs and ships your product, and Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM), where you handle storage and shipping yourself — using your own numbers for both, side by side.
How to use it
- Enter your product cost, selling price and referral fee (the referral fee applies the same way under both models).
- Fill in your FBA fulfillment fee and an amortized storage cost estimate from Seller Central.
- Fill in what it actually costs you to pack and ship one unit yourself for FBM — your real shipping rate, box/mailer cost, and any packing labor.
Neither model is universally better: FBA often wins on fulfillment cost for lightweight, fast-moving items and unlocks Prime eligibility, while FBM can win for large, heavy, or slow-moving items where Amazon's storage and fulfillment fees add up fast, or where you already have efficient shipping in place. This calculator doesn't guess your fees for you — it uses the real numbers you pull from Seller Central and your own shipping carrier, since those vary too much by product and account to hardcode responsibly.
