What is the Bill Split Calculator?
This tool adds a tip to a bill and divides the total evenly among a group — a simple, common calculation that's still easy to get wrong doing mental math at a crowded table.
The formula
Tip Amount = Bill × Tip%. Total = Bill + Tip Amount. Per Person = Total ÷ Number of People.
How to use it
- Enter the bill total (before tip).
- Enter the tip percentage you want to leave.
- Enter how many people are splitting it.
This assumes an even split — if everyone ordered roughly similar amounts, that's usually fair. For very uneven orders, it's often fairer to calculate each person's own item total plus a proportional share of the tip instead of a flat even split.
