Keyword Density Checker

See how often each word or phrase appears in your content, as a percentage.

What is the Keyword Density Checker?

This tool counts how many times each word or short phrase appears in a piece of content, and shows that count as a percentage of the total word count — useful for spot-checking whether a target keyword appears often enough (or too often) in an article, or seeing what topics your content actually emphasizes based on word frequency alone.

How to use it

  1. Paste your content in.
  2. Choose whether to look at single words or short phrases (2 or 3 words), and a minimum word length to filter out short filler words.
  3. Click Analyze to see every word or phrase ranked by how often it appears.

An important honesty note about "keyword density"

Keyword density as a specific target percentage (like "aim for 2% density") is a largely outdated piece of SEO advice from an era when search engines relied more heavily on simple keyword counting. Modern search engines use far more sophisticated methods to understand a page's topic and relevance, and deliberately stuffing a specific percentage of keyword repetitions into content is more likely to make it read badly than to help rankings. Use this tool to sanity-check natural, readable keyword usage and spot accidental over-repetition, not to hit an arbitrary density number. Everything is analyzed locally in your browser.
