Tipping customs vary a lot from country to country and even between types of service — restaurants, delivery, salons and taxis often have different norms — so this calculator deliberately leaves the percentage entirely up to you rather than assuming one region's standard. Splitting the total evenly is the simplest approach for a group meal; if people ordered very different amounts, you may prefer to calculate each person's tip on their own portion instead, but the even split covers the vast majority of everyday cases quickly.
