What is the Black & White Image tool?

This tool converts a color photo to grayscale using the standard luminance formula, which weights green most heavily and blue least, matching how human eyes perceive brightness — the same reason a simple color average looks noticeably different (and worse) than a proper grayscale conversion.

How to use it

  1. Choose an image from your device.
  2. Drag the intensity slider to blend between the original color photo (0%) and full black & white (100%).
  3. Click Download PNG to save the result.

Everything runs on your device using the Canvas API's pixel data, so your photo is never uploaded to a server.
